We are sad to report the passing of Austin Hefferin.  Austin played for the WLC 18U team for the 2012-13 season.  He was an outstanding young man, and incredible teammate, and played the game the right way- with heart, intensity, and pure joy.  His leadership and charm left a lasting impression on his teammates.  Some of Austin’s highlights can still be seen in the instructional videos WLC coaches share with the next generation of hockey players.

Austin was diagnosed with brain cancer 6 years ago.  He underwent brain surgery twice and in typical Austin fashion, fought through both procedures exceeding his doctors expectations.  Austin gave everything he had to fight this battle, and only recently succumbed to the disease.  He leaves behind 5 brothers and sisters, a loving family, and teammates who will miss him dearly.

Austin’s Family has started a GoFundMe campaign to help with Austin’s medical bills.  If you wish to donate please visit https://gf.me/u/y5fjy3
