Washington Little Capitals 16U forward Mac Robertson picked up right where he left off from last season in the NAPHL, as the 6’4 native of Bowie, Md. posted 8 points (6 goals, 2 assists) in 4 games during the season-opening Super Showcase in Blaine, MN.  Robertson had three multi-point games and scored four goals in a 7-1 win over Thunder Bay capping a dominant opening weekend.

And he picked a good weekend to do so.  This was the 15th annual NAPHL Super Showcase – a premier event for midget players drawing 370 scouts, coaches and evaluators.  Junior teams from the NAHL, and midget teams from the NAPHL, HPHL, and Minnesota High School Hockey leagues participate in the showcase making it a key event for professional, college, and junior scouts.  This season’s Super Showcase was attended by 54 NHL scouts (with 29 of the 31 teams represented), along with 169 NCAA Division I and III scouts and coaches.  In addition, almost 90 coaches and scouts from NAHL and USHL teams were present evaluating prospects for those elite leagues.

"I am very honored to be the Peak Performer for the Blaine showcase,” offered Robertson, “but I am more proud of how we came back from a slow start and finished strong with a big win. It is going to take a full team effort in order to keep winning in this league, and in general. I am very excited for this year and I am excited to play with the group of guys we have each night. I feel like if we buckle down and stay focused and stay positive, the sky is the limit for us.”

“Mac is off to a great start- that was quite a performance with a lot of people watching,” said Coach Doug Plocki.  “This is a big year for Mac, he continues to create opportunities, and is really developing both as a player and a leader.”

It was a sound showing for the Little Caps in Blaine, as 15U goaltender Will Hopewell also captured the Second Star in the 15U Division.  Please join us in congratulating Mac and Will on a great start to the season!
