Reid Leibold’s breakout year continues.  It began when he was selected in the USHL Futures Draft and affiliated with the Waterloo Black Hawks.  Now, Reid put a firm stamp on his future by committing to play Division I hockey for the RPI Engineers.

“We’re absolutely thrilled,” stated Hockey Director Dan Jablonic, “Reid is a terrific young man, it’s great to see him realize his dream of playing college hockey.”

“This means a lot to me and my family,” Reid said, “but there's still a lot of work to be done before I'm ready for that level.”

“Reid worked tremendously hard over this last year, total effort towards his goals, so it’s awesome to see that effort rewarded,” offered Coach Doug Plocki.  “Reid is a great example of what players can accomplish when they really want to achieve- he earned this opportunity.  Now the hard work is all in front of him, but the same effort that earned him this shot will help him succeed.”

Leibold achieved what many Little Cap players strive for, but not all reach.  “Reid joined us last season, and from the moment he walked in the door he applied himself to developing his game at every opportunity.  This success is a direct result of commitment and sacrifice from a very talented player.  It's really hard to do what he just did.  We are very proud of him.” stated Plocki.

“We’re happy for him and the program,” continued Jablonic, “our younger players can look to Reid as a model of how to chase their dreams.”

Reid and his 16U National Teammates hit the ice this weekend in Blaine, MN for the 15th Annual NAHL Super Showcase, featuring top midget and junior teams from across the country.  Please join us in congratulating Reid and his family on this momentous achievement.
