Former Little Cap Ryan Leibold met with some old teammates outside the Schwan’s Super Rink in Blaine, MN as both the North American Hockey League (“NAHL”) and its youth affiliate the North American Prospects Hockey League (“NAPHL”) kick off the 2016-17 season at the 14th Annual NAHL Showcase.  Leibold is now playing with the Springfield Jr. Blues in the NAHL.  He played with the Little Caps 18U Team last season in the NAPHL, earned a tender (contract offer) from Springfield during the 2015-16 NAPHL season, and played his way onto the squad at the Springfield Main Camp this past August.  Leibold has featured in all 5 games for Springfield this season, and has already collected 2 assists in one of the top, and most competitive, junior leagues in the country.

The Little Caps 18U and 16U teams are in Blaine to compete in the NAHL showcase, which features every team in the NAHL, every team in the NAPHL, and 35 guest midget teams from the High Performance Hockey League and the Minnesota Prep School Elite League.  The showcase offers the chance to compete against traditional powerhouses like Honeybaked, Little Caesars, Team Wisconsin, and the Chicago Mission on a grand stage.  This yearly event brings over 300 NCAA, junior and NHL scouts together to watch the best midget teams in the country battle it out.

You can follow the action live on Fast Hockey as the 18U Team battles Little Caesar’s 18U at 5:00pm CDT, and the 16U Team takes on the Everett Jr. Silvertips at 1:30CDT.

Ryan and the Jr. Blues take on the Brookings Blizzard at 3:30pm CDT.
