2016 LDDC - USA HOCKEY Labor Day Development Camp

BOOSTING PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
The Washington Little Capitals and USA Hockey will host a special Labor Day Development Camp
at Kettler Capitals IcePlex from Sept. 3-5, 2016. Participants will include 14U and 15U
teams from five NHL-affiliated youth hockey programs:
• Washington Little Capitals
• Carolina Junior Hurricanes
• Columbus Blue Jackets AAA
• Virtua Hockey (Philadelphia Flyers)
• Pittsburgh Penguins Elite

FORMAT
As part of USA Hockey’s American Development Model, the Labor Day Development Camp
will feature an optimal mix of age-appropriate training and competition for players. Teams will
participate in fast-paced, competitive station-based practices on Saturday and Sunday mornings,
followed by off-ice presentations and head-to-head mini-games on the Kettler ice during the
evenings. Championship Monday will feature a morning of winner-take-all mini-games.

EXPERIENCED STAFF AND PRESENTERS
Players will receive instruction from some of the country’s top coaches and player-development
experts. Additional off-ice presentations for players, parents and coaches will provide a valuable
educational component to the weekend. Presenters will include:
• Brent Darnell, education director - College Hockey, Inc.
• J.D. Forrest, assistant coach - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (American Hockey League)
• Don Granato, associate head coach - University of Wisconsin (NCAA Division I)
• Ty Hennes, skill development coach - Pittsburgh Penguins (National Hockey League)
• Ken Martel, ADM technical director - USA Hockey
• Phil Osaer, ADM goaltending manager - USA Hockey
• Scott Paluch, ADM regional manager - USA Hockey
