WLC 2003 TEAM OFF TO  PEEWEE  QUEBEC TOURNAMENT

After a two year hiatus, the Washington Little Caps are returning to the Quebec Peewee International Hockey Tournament. The 2003 team is  playing in the top division of tournament, and our first game will be played on February 12 at 3:30 pm vs. the Detroit Red Wings (a.k.a. top ranked Little Caesars) at the brand new 18,000-seat Videotron Centre.  It’s not an easy task when you are playing the top teams in North America, but we have a strong squad, and I am optimistic about our prospects. I will be on the bench coaching with Andrew and Connor, and am looking forward to it almost as much as the kids.

This International Tournament will give the kids a unique hockey and cultural experience.  All the kids will billet with Quebec families and learning the customs of French Canadian families.  They will get a chance to go out and play pond hockey (something we don’t often get to do here in Washington, DC), learn a new culture, and the special tradition of hockey in Quebec.  The players are looking forward to exploring the Winter Carnival de Quebec, experiencing dog sledding, and making life-long memories

The tournament is expensive, and the boys have been preparing for this trip by doing several fundraising events—bake sales, public skates and team blanket sales (which are still available for just $90.
