NAPHL announces Apex Learning Peak Performers for November 18U honors go to Kevin Ford (Madison), Alec Cordova (Washington) and William Lowe III (Esmark) 16U honors go to Kaid Oliver (Arizona), Jackson Decker (Omaha AAA) and Francisco Clark Silva (Rocky Mountain) FRISCO, TEXAS – The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) announced its Apex Learning Virtual School Peak Performers for the month of November. The players were selected based upon their performance at the third NAPHL event of the season, which took place at the Iceworks Arena in Aston, Pennsylvania from November 13-16.

18U Apex Peak Performer (Defense) – Alec Cordova, Washington Little Capitals

Thanks to a 3-1-1 record in Aston, the Washington Little Capitals are in good position to make the playoffs. Defenseman Alec Cordova, 17, was a factor from the blueline as the native of Woodbridge, VA, totaled five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in the five games and managed to record at least a point in four of the five outings. Cordova (5’10/160) opened the event with two assists in a 4-0 shutout win over Omaha, which was the Little Caps biggest win to date. In the next game, he added an assist in a 5-2 win over HC Dallas. He had another assist in a shootout loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and he wrapped up the event with a goal in a 6-3 win over San Diego. In 15 games played so far this season in the NAPHL, Cordova has seven points.

WLC U18 Players Receive NAPHL Recognition

At the completion of each showcase, NAPHL officials select 3 forwards, 3 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders from across the league as the APEX Learning Peak Performers of the week.  After a strong 3-1-1 showing by the entire U18 team at the November showcase in Aston, PA, 3 Little Caps have been recognized.

Alec Cordova was named the #1 defensive star anchoring a Little Caps defensive unit that held opponents to 10 goals in 5 games, including a shutout of the #11 Omaha AAA Hockey Club.  Alec also contributed on offense with 1 goal and 4 assists and had at least 1 point in 4 of the 5 games.

Alex Chen was named the #2 goaltender star recording a 3-1 overall record that included a 33 save shutout of the #11 Omaha AAA Hockey Club.  In total, Alex made 86 saves on 91 attempts for a 94.5% save percentage and also recorded wins over HC Dallas and San Diego.

Ryan Leibold was named the #3 offensive star after scoring a league-high 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) for the weekend and recorded at least 1 point in 4 of 5 games with a game-high 4 points against San Diego.

Congratulations to these boys and to the entire WLC U18 team, who continues their push to make the NAPHL playoffs in their inaugural season in the upcoming December showcase in Blaine, MN.  With an 8-5-2 record through the first 15 games, the Little Caps are tied for 7th and are only 1 point behind the 5th place team.  Good luck boys!
